Osteopathic Manual Therapy

Osteopathic Manual Therapy is conducted through the osteopathic assessment of anatomical deviations expressed by asymmetry, restriction of normal motion, tissue texture change and subjective complaints. These dysfunctional findings may effectively interfere with the proper bodily function of some or all body systems. These findings are treated through the application of osteopathic concepts and principles. A Manual Osteopath can treat conditions like Back pain, Headache, TMJ dysfunction, Hip pain, Tennis and Golfer’s elbow, Whiplash, Concussions, and Digestive issues.

Manual Osteopathic Practitioners are educated and trained to work exclusively without drugs or surgery by using hands-on manual methods for structural assessment and treatment. The first thing to know is that manual osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on technique. By manipulating the alignment of muscles, bones, and joints, manual osteopathy helps remove obstructions throughout the body. This helps fluids such as blood and lymph flow easily, helps with balance and alignment, and improves the body’s self-healing capabilities.

“When an osteopath explores the human body for the cause of disease, he knows he is dealing with complicated perfection. He must master anatomy and physiology and have a fairly good knowledge of chemistry; then he can reason from the effect to the cause that gives rise to the abnormal condition or disease.”
